After expressing a desire to enter the
console market, Valve introduced the first part of its plan: SteamOS. The
free Linux based operating system will allow gamers to access their Steam
library in their living room effectively building upon the Big Picture Mode
concept already available in the current version of Steam. Players will
be able to use their existing PC to stream games using their home
network. In addition to games, players will also be able to access music
and video content as well as take advantage of the new family featurues.
Family sharing is coming to Steam and will allow players to share their games
with others. Games can be played by one individual at a time, however
each player will be able to save their own progress and acquire their own
achievements. No release date has been provided.
